APARTMENTS ACCESS

KEYS: After you park your car on the Václav Havel square, continue on foot up the hill in direction to Česká Třebová. After few metres there is big wooden door on your left where the key case is located. The UPPER key case marked with the sign "Castle apartments" is the right one. Enter your digit code received via SMS and collect your keys.

Once you have your keys, use the entrance card. Scanner on your left unlocks the big wooden door and opens a passage behind it. Later if you need to use this door from the other side, there is button on the handle that unlocks it. The same system is used everywhere - entrance card scanner from the outside, unlock button on the handle from the inside, and all door locks automatically behind you, so never leave without your keys. Now you are "inside", so to unlock the next glass door you need to push the button on the handle. This glass door is the only exception where from the outer side the scanner is hidden - you need to place the entrance card where you would expect a keyhole on the handle. The passage leads you to the first courtyard. Turn right towards the Native Flat of Bedřich Smetana, the aparmtents are right above it.

If not open, use your entrance card to open the door. Scanner is on your left. Proceed up the stairs to another glass door with scanner on your right. Now you are between the Smetana Apartment and Zoubek Apartment. Jirásek Apartment is one storey higher. Use a key to open your apartment.

ACCESS BY CAR: From the Václav Havel square or from Zámecká street from traffic lights drive up the hill in direction to Česká Třebová. Just few metres after the big wooden door with the key case turn left into the gate and continue as far as to the fontaine. You may park next to it facing to the building. In the apartment there is a green parking card, you need to display it visibly in your car whenever you park in the castle area. The castle area is a popular venue for various events, when the parking place near fontaine might be full. In this case you are allowed to park right behind the first gate from the street or proceed to the alley on your right after you pass the first gate. Always display your parking card.

Litomyšl is in Eastern Bohemia, easily reached on the international route E442 (35) between Hradec Králové and Olomouc. It is about 160 km from Prague, 90 km and 55 km from Hradec Králové. We recommend arriving from Prague on the D11 motorway from Prague to Hradec Králové. At the end you can use the first stretch of the R35 highway towards Pardubice. At the cloverleaf junction at Opatovice however you should head back towards Hradec Králové and from Hradec Králové continue on to Vysoké Mýto, Brno. On this road there are not many places for overtaking and it is often full of lorries, but despite this the time from Prague-Černý Most to Litomyšl Chateau is 95 minutes. It is relatively accessible by bus – the Litomyšl stop is part of many long-distance routes that cross the country. Rail travel is also possible, with your destination being Česká Třebová, from where there is a bus link to Litomyšl (13 km). The bus stop is immediately in front of Litomyšl Chateau.

In Litomyšl there are plenty of information boards to direct you. The so-called “Castle Hill” rises above the main square and is impossible to miss.  

PARKING

There is free parking right in front of the building on Jiráskova street. It is possible to park in the public car park in the square in front of the chateau for 50 CZK for 24 hours (250 CZK for a week), but spaces cannot be reserved ahead of time. With the parking card you are allowed to park in the castle area.

You can take up your accommodation on your day of arrival from 2 p.m., and we would kindly ask you to vacate your apartment by 10 a.m. on the day of departure unless we have agreed otherwise.

There is no reception for the apartments, usually we place the key in a locker with a code. Detailed instructions how to pick up your key and where to park your car will be sent few days before your arrival and you can find those at this page.
